Animal-Assisted Occupational Therapy & Motivation: A Parent's Perspective

This was a quantitative research study conducted by Stacy Kemp, OTD, during her time at Pacific University of Oregon's Occupational Therapy Doctorate program.

The study provides a background on Animal Assisted Therapy [Treatment] & the Model of Human Occupation. The research design was a quantitative research survey using the Pediatric Volitional Questionnaire. Results indicated that the inclusion of the dog affects children's motivation before, during, and after therapy. The presentation ends with implications for future practice.
